SAM-e Kick Start

Anchor Health's SAMe Kick Start ingredients include:

  • Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is involved in many biological processes as a co-enzyme, where it works with enzymes to speed up chemical and metabolic reaction in the cells. This workhorse vitamin is also required to manufacture amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, as well as neurotransmitters, and red blood cells.

When taken in combination with folic acid and vitamin B12, vitamin B6 can help the body process homocysteine - an amino acid-like compound that if present at high levels can increase the risk of developing heart disease and other vascular disorders.

Furthermore, vitamin B6 can help people cope with depression, anxiety, and stress.

Many adults actually do not get enough vitamin B6 from their diet, especially if they eat a lot of processed food. So be sure to get enough vitamin B6 for your body by taking supplements.

  • Folic Acid
Folic acid is a member of the vitamin B family. Folic acid is famous for its ability to protect against heart disease and prevent birth defects. Actually, folic acid is required for many of the body's processes, including cell division, formation of red blood cells and neurotransmitters, wound healing and more.

Folic acid can reduce the body's level of homocysteine, which has been linked to both heart disease and depression.

Because the body cannot keep folic acid in its system for very long (it secretes folic acid in urine), it is important to take supplements to ensure you get adequate amounts.

  • Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is an important vitamin as it is involved in the formation of red blood cells, the maintenance of nerve functions, proper energy metabolism, and the formation of genetic materials DNA and RNA.

Vitamin B12 can also help those suffering from depression and neurological problems.

Although most people are able to get vitamin B12 from their diet, the body must have adequate digestive enzymes and stomach acids to separate vitamin B12 from the protein in food. Actually, a large percentage of older adults do not get adequate amounts of this vitamin because their digestive abilities are impaired by age.

  • Trimethylglycine (TMG)
Trimethylglycine or betaine, similar to S-adenosylmethionine or SAMe, is a methyl donor. TMG carries and donates methyl functional groups to facilitate the necessary chemical processes. The donation of methyl groups is necessary for liver function, cellular replication, and detoxification.

Clinical research studies also suggest that TMG can help prevent artherosclerosis or hardening of blood vessels due to harmful plaque formation.

  • L-Methionine
Methionine is an essential amino acid and is a required building block of proteins and enzymes. Our body cannot manufacture methionine and therefore must get it from food and supplements (especially since much of today's food are processed and therefore devoid of much nutrients).

Methionine is required in the production of SAMe - a natural amino acid-like compound that has been effectively used to treat depression, stress, arthritic pain, liver ailments, and more.

  • Dimethylglycine
Dimethylglycine or DMG in short, is an amino acid found naturally in plant and animal cells. It is used as dietary supplement to increase oxygenation at the cellular level, reduce fatigue and improve stamina. It also has the ability to enhance the immune system.
